Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • The KSPTA runs this district-wide Readathon each year to celebrate and foster the joy of reading with our kids (K-8), while also raising the important funds needed to support our kids in and out of the classroom and libraries as their needs continue to grow.

We started to run the Readathon in 2022 and have been pleased to see that it’s become another enjoyable district-wide event such as Book Fair, Maker’s Fair, and Games Night that our children look forward to and grow from each year.

  • Wednesday, March 13 will be a Bacich school day dedicated to reading. Amazing guest authors, local “celebrity” readers, reading-themed activities, and assemblies will create a fun-filled, educational day for all students. Additionally, our much-anticipated annual Bookmark Contest will take place!

  • Reading will be celebrated throughout the week of March 11 at Kent. A special visit from a guest author (TBD), Scholastic Book Fair, reading lounges, word games, journaling, and assemblies will create a fun-filled, reading-themed week for Kent students. Additionally, our much-anticipated annual Bookmark Contest will take place at Kent.

Stay tuned for exciting announcements about the various events!

  • The KSPTA Readathon Team is working hard with all grade levels to make sure the day is fun and exciting for all students. There will be enriching, reading-related activities including word games, reading with buddies, art projects, and visits from special readers who will read in the classrooms.

  • Each student will be emailed a personal donation webpage via 99pledges.com. While online donations are preferred, a printed pledge form can be completed for cash or check donations and dropped off at the Bacich or Kent office. Visit our How It Works page to download a pledge form.

  • Please email readathon@kspta.org with any and all questions related to 99pledges. We will respond as quickly as possible.

  • Every dollar counts! We hope that each student will raise $75 in total but truly, no amount is too small (or too big).

  • The KSPTA is aware that not everyone will be able to seek or obtain donations. We created the Readathon Angel Donor Fund to make it possible for every child to participate.

If your child needs help getting donations, email angeldonor@kspta.org so that they can become a recipient of this Fund.

Please be aware that in order to facilitate the Angel Donor Fund, the recipients of donations from the Angel Donor Fund will be known by select KSPTA members including the Treasurer and the Angel Donor Manager. The Angel Donor Manager will be either a Chair of the Readathon or the KSPTA President.

  • At Bacich, there will be one winning grade. At Kent, there will be one winning “house”. The Bacich grade and the Kent house with the highest participation rate will receive a special prize.

  • Yes. We have created the Readathon Angel Donor Fund to help make sure every child is able to participate in the Readathon.

To donate, visit our 99Pledges page for the Angel Donor Fund. Periodically we will make pledges to Angel Donor Fund recipients. The pledges will be anonymous for the sake of student confidentiality and will be spread as evenly as possible across all recipients. All or nearly all of the monies in the fund will be allocated to recipient pledge pages.

Thank you in advance for your commitment to equity, and for your kindness and generosity.

  • Yes. The KSPTA is a 501(c)(3) organization. The necessary tax information will be included automatically in the e-receipt from 99pledges.com. For check donations, receipts will be provided via email from treasurer@kspta.org upon request.
